My local utility company offers an email address while you’re on interminable hold to verify payment of your bill (or whatever other customer service thing you’re calling about). I find it really interesting that the address is either bsc@unhelpfulutilities.com or efz, or bsz, or dsc, or dfz, or… well, you get the picture. Not a very transparent customer disservice tactic. I’ve been on hold now for about 30 minutes. Yippee. This is how I want to spend my lunch break.
Ooh! They answered. Total hold time was 32 minutes. Not counting the 30 minutes I waited during a previous call. Time it took to verify that payment: less than 1 minute.
