With the Democratic Convention closing and the Republican Convention getting rolling I thought I might provide a little public service announcement for my imaginary reader. <waving> Hallo, imaginary reader!
I have a real problem with being lied to and manipulated by the very system that is intended to serve me. (And I think you should, too. But do whatever you want…) Problem is, I don’t have hours every day to sit down and sort out what’s real and what’s not. That’s why I’m happy to have resources like Snopes.com so I can see if the latest email forwarded by someone who cares about me and wants to warn me about the newest techniques being used by purse-snatchers around the world is real or made up.
Several months about I heard about a great website called FactCheck.org. I love what these people are doing! They catch the mud being slung and sort out water from the dirt, so to speak. They do the research so I don’t have to. And they don’t take sides! It’s great!
No matter who you support you can get the facts on your guy and the other guy so you know what’s what and are prepared to make an educated decision rather than a manipulated one.
Check it out. They’ll even let you sign up for an email alert when they post new information. It’s just grand!

I just found out (and it’s nice to know) that if I type “www.sordpress.com” into my browser it still brings me to WordPress. So often the computer, much to my frustration, does what I tell it to do and not what I want it to do. It’s nice to know that sometimes this is not the case and my computer can read my mind, just like I always knew it could.
I admit, dear friends, that I have been remiss with this blog. Mostly because I don’t think anybody is reading it. However, I have discussed it with several people and I hope they are looking for it now. Hi! This doesn’t mean I’m promising to be more diligent. I have lots of experiences in my life that I think “Oh! I can blog about this.” and then I just don’t. I write them down and everything, but I never get them up here. I’m sure you’re sad about it…
Right now, I am very busy with the start up of the Voces Novae 2008-2009 season. Our first concert is all new music composed by Harry Pickens using the poetry of Wendell Berry. It is beautiful stuff and if you think you have something better to do at 3:00 on November 23 than to be at Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville, KY hearing this world-premiere music, then you are quite incorrect. Go here for tickets. If it says tickets are not yet available, check back in a couple weeks. I promise it will be worth it! We are also working on a new CD of music written for us by Harry. It will be available at that concert. It’s all very exciting!
For some reason the last several days I have been angry and sad. I am so tired of my routine I want to scream! Unfortunately, my routine doesn’t include any housework so my filthy house makes me want to scream, too. I wish my routine included more exercise, because I went to the gym this afternoon and worked hard there for about an hour and I’m not feeling so crummy this evening. My routine does include a lot of blaming others and myself and making a lot of excuses why I can’t get to the gym or wash any dishes or mop any floors or do anything useful with my time.
Tomorrow is Friday. Hooray! And Labor Day is next weekend! Three-day Hooray! I may ask off on the Friday prior so I can have a 5-day hooray (since I get Thursdays off anyway – and now you say “Why are you complaining about your bloody routine! You have a 4-day work week!” and I reply “Pooh to you! I’ll complain if I want!”
