The following are the lyrics to “A Song of Peace.” The first 2 stanzas were written by Lloyd Stone, the last verse was written by Harry Pickens and Glenda Hodges-Cook. This song chokes me up every time.
This is my song, O God of all the nations ~ A song of peace for Lands afar and mine; ~ This is my home the country where my heart is ~ Here are my hopes, my dreams, my sacred shrine. ~ But other hearts in other lands are beating ~ With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.
My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean ~ And sunlight beams on clover leaf and pine; ~ But other lands have sunlight, too, and clover ~ And skies are everywhere as blue as mine. ~ O hear my song, thou God of all the nations ~ A song of peace for their land and for mine.
This is our song one family, one creation ~ Of every color, culture, faith and name; ~ A single heart through all the earth is beating ~ A pulse of love to light compassion’s flame. ~ This is our day to rise as one, together ~ On wings of hope with peace our only aim.
I couldn’t say it better or more eloquently. Share your love and shine your light.
Peace to you and yours on this Peace Globe Day in the blogosphere. I have to believe we have made a difference in our world.
